INT2883
Yogyakarta , Indonesia
In the last three years, natural disasters and conflict in Indonesia have claimed 255,000 lives. And 1.4 million people have been displaced and now live in poverty. They’re trying to make ends meet on less than US$2 per day. So what are we doing about it? We aim to secure access to enough food and income for the most vulnerable people. Which is where you can help.
Be challenged
As a key strategic leader, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and development of our humanitarian work. A significant proportion of the work we do is in response to emergency situations, so you’ll support our emergency interventions, interventions that increase the protection of civilian populations across the country. You’ll also promote local, national and regional policy through expert and informed advocacy. And you’ll make sure we have the best people and enough funds to carry out our aims, policies and projects. Stand out as an influential advocate of Oxfam GB with your ability to forge strong working relationships with our partners, donors and other international agencies.
Be involved
This is a highly visible role, so it’s important that you have extensive experience within an international agency implementing and managing humanitarian responses. You’ll be educated to degree level in a relevant subject (International Management, Humanitarian or Development related). If you aren’t, you have enough equivalent experience that proves you’re more than capable. With a thorough understanding of relief and development issues, you’re a natural leader who can draw on your experience of managing projects to make a difference to the people who need your help.
Be Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. More than 8,000 people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
