CARDI, an international NGO consortium providing support to persons affected by conflict and natural disaster is looking for qualified national candidates to fill in position to be based in Calang - Aceh Jaya, NAD : j Education Officer - Calang (EO - CL) BACKGROUND Founded in 2001, CARDI (the Consortium for Assistance and Recovery towards Development in Indonesia) is a coalition of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Dutch refugee foundation Stichting Vluchteling (SV) and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). CARDI's clients are Indonesians affected by poverty, conflict and natural disaster in the provinces of Aceh, Yogyakarta, Central Java, Central Sulawesi, Maluku and North Maluku. By investing in Economic Development, Health and Children and Youth Initiatives, CARDI's support provides resources that enable Indonesians to articulate their needs, advocate for change and affect improvements in their lives through social and economic entrepreneurship. CARDI also equips its clients with the ability to recover from disasters and conflicts, and prevent the reoccurrence of future conflicts, through Disaster Response and Mitigation programming. Four strategic, cross-cutting approaches—Advocacy, Rights, Good Governance and Gender—are evident in all CARDI programs, and ensure that change is both durable and sustainable. While still addressing basic needs for displaced populations and returnees, CARDI increasingly provides transitional, post-conflict recovery and development programs. Job Summary: The aim of Education Officer is to assist in developing and implementing CARDI Education activities in Calang. She/he will work with the Education Manager to respond to the educational professional development needs of teachers, and the educational development needs of students in Aceh. The aim is to provide access for all children to a high-quality educational service that is based on child-centered teaching methodology. The Education Officer will report to Calang Education Manager and Calang Field Coordinator. Essential Job Functions: 1. To works with and assist the Calang Education Manager in conducting training and any relevant activities in Education programme 2. To collect relevant data and information from government and partner organizations on project progress to support monitoring and evaluation of education program 3. To work with the Calang Education Manager in providing information, consultation and facilitation to government and partner organizations in the area of education regarding the monitoring and evaluation 4. To work with and assist the Calang Education Manager to socialize and facilitate monitoring and evaluation meeting in targeted Gugus and schools 5. To undertake any additional tasks identified by the Education Technical Specialist and Calang Education Manager Logistics /Finance • Prepare purchase requests following CARDI procurement procedures • Provide information to CARDI Administration, Logistics, and Finance Departments as requested to ensure smooth operations CARDI Representation • Under the direction of the Calang Education Manager make regular contact with key education stakeholders Aceh Jaya District Education Office, UN Agencies, International and National NGOs- in the Education sector at the district level, • Accompany donor or other CARDI tours to field sites, when requested. • Represent CARDI and attend meetings at the local and Gugus level relevant to Education when requested by the Education Manager Reporting: • Collect data and assist the Calang Education Manager to ensure that project goals and objectives are appropriately monitored and evaluated, and that reports are written and submitted in a timely manner. • Assist the Calang Education Manager to ensure that data related to Education is managed effectively and follow-up is completed on a consistent and ongoing basis. • Collect data and assist the Calang Education Manager to ensure that standardized systems of program data collection, storage, analysis, presentation and reporting are fulfilled • Provide information and assist in report writing and monthly updates as required by donors and partnership agreements. Job Requirements/ Experience Required: • Experience in education programming work with an NGO or UN agency. • Experience in arranging and monitoring training on educational professional development, teaching methodology, community participation and child-centered learning. • Ability to communicate well in Bahasa Indonesia. An understanding of English would be desirable. • Familiarity with Acehnese culture and traditions would be desirable. • Ability to work under pressure in a potentially unstable security environment. Educational Requirements: Diploma in a field related to education qualification in education preferred. Additional qualities a successful candidate should possess: • Ability to multitask • Ability to handle pressure well • Ability to improvise and take initiative • Flexibility • Willing to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities when needed • Willingness to commit to the CARDI Code of Conduct and international laws/codes/conventi ons related to the rights of children and the overall protection of children. • Committed to implementing programs that involve children and youth at all levels of implementation.
